Tomsk Plant of Electric Drives (TOMZEL), a subsidiary of Transneft Western Siberia, was recognised as the winner of the Best Occupational Health Company in Tomsk Region regional contest among regional industrial companies with over 500 employees.
The goal of the contest is to draw attention to important occupational health and safety issues, promote production culture and good practices of the most efficient companies and organisations among employers.
The Department of Labor and Employment of Tomsk Region praised TOMZEL for its occupational health system and for its effective practice in automating occupational health business processes.
The introduction of process automation in the area of occupational health at TOMZEL, allows solving a number of management issues, including optimising planning and calculations for the procurement of personal protective equipment, raising employee awareness, reducing the time and human resources required to notify personnel and eliminating the presence of staff with expired knowledge checks or medical examinations at the workplace.
Automation also concerns TOMZEL’s production processes. The equipment fleet is constantly updated. Numerically controlled machines are prioritised to minimise the possibility of an employee being in the parts processing area, thus eliminating the risk of personal injury. Today, more than a third of TOMZEL's machine tool fleet is made up of numerically controlled machines.
The warehouse storage systems used at the plant are also automated. This ensure a safe working environment for employees and eliminate potentially unfavourable cargo lifting situations.
TOMZEL, Transneft Western Siberia subsidiary, was founded in 1998. Its main business area is the development, production and maintenance of specialised products for fuel and energy sector companies. The plant includes 5 production buildings, the total area of which is about 10 thousand m2. The main partners of TOMZEL are Transneft subsidiaries, as well as other leading companies of Russia and the Eurasian Economic Union.
