Tomsk Plant of Electric Drives (TOMZEL) has received corporate awards for its activities in 2020. The company was ranked 2nd among Transneft subsidiaries for environmental safety and sustainable nature management, as well as 3rd for the implementation of occupational health measures.
Comprehensive environmental measures implemented by TOMZEL were highly appreciated. At the end of 2020, the plant did not exceed permissible standards for water consumption and disposal, as well as for waste and emissions into the atmospheric air. As part of the enforcement of the environmental legislation, an inventory of stationary emission sources was carried out; 4 industrial waste disposal passports were developed and approved.
In 2020, TOMZEL performed an external audit which resulted in a certificate of compliance of the environmental management system with international standards. The plant traditionally takes an active part in environmental clean-up events and campaigns on city and regional levels: for example, in 2020 it was declared the winner of the regional Green Office 2020 contest.
Among the measures implemented to protect lives and health of employees is a dedicated working conditions assessment to identify harmful or hazardous production factors. In 2020, such an assessment was carried out at 322 workplaces; measurements of harmful air substances at production areas were performed. The plant allocated RUB 4.5 million for the purchase of protective clothing, footwear and personal protective equipment.
Much attention is paid to the upgrade of TOMZEL machine tool fleet. The purchase of equipment relies on numerically-controlled machines. The plant’s warehouses are equipped with modern automated storage systems. Such systems ensure a safe working environment for employees and eliminate potentially unfavourable cargo lifting situations.
TOMZEL, Transneft Western Siberia subsidiary, was founded in 1998. Its main business area is the development, production and maintenance of specialised products for fuel and energy sector companies. The plant includes 5 production buildings, the total area of which is about 10 thousand m2. The main partners of TOMZEL are Transneft subsidiaries, as well as other leading companies of Russia and the Eurasian Economic Union.
